Join us for the kickoff of our 8‑week series at 9100 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, where Pineapple Ride, in partnership with NYC DOT, StreetLab, Pineapple Bike Café, Sanitation Foundation and local community groups, transforms the space into a vibrant hub of safe biking, play, and community connection.

Early Morning Clean up (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM):

  • 8:00–10:00 AM: In collaboration with the Sanitation Foundation, help us kick off the day with a deep clean of Caesar’s Bay. Join our volunteers in making the space cleaner and healthier for everyone!

  • 10:00–12:00 PM: Pineapple Ride and partners set up the venue for a day of celebration.

Daily Programming (12:00 PM – 7:00 PM):

  • Interactive Play & Learning:

    • PLAY Station—a touch‑free obstacle course for kids featuring colorful barriers, chalk-drawn game zones, and custom challenges.

    • BUILD Station: Step into our pop‑up building station equipped with LEGO, Imagination Playground blocks, MagnaTiles, and more. Engage in self‑guided building challenges crafted by architects.

    • IMAGINE Station: Share your ideas and stories about Bensonhurst at our interactive community station. Write your thoughts on handwritten tags and capture your vision with Polaroid photos displayed in our mini street gallery.

    • Street Marker: Join hands with fellow New Yorkers in our creative workspace to design striking street patterns and communal murals using our custom toolkit. Learn new ways to mark and celebrate public spaces while having fun together.

  • Bike-Focused Activities:

    • Enjoy free bike repairs and participate in hands‑on bike safety classes to keep your ride in top shape and learn safe urban cycling practices.

  • Community Engagement & Refreshments:

    • Savor complimentary hot beverages—including LMNT tea, hot tea, hot chocolate, and espresso drinks—at our Cafe Station, alongside bite‑sized snacks sourced locally.

Additional Details for the Spring Clean:

What to Wear:

  • Wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes.

    • Green clothing is preferred.

  • Layers, a hat, long sleeves, and sunscreen are recommended.

What to Bring:

  • Please bring your own water bottle.

  • Only bring essentials, as there is no onsite storage for valuables (we are not responsible for lost or stolen items).

Pineapple Will Provide:

  • Garbage bags

  • Gloves

  • Some pickers (it’s suggested you bring your own)

  • Refreshments and light snacks

Restroom Access:

  • Please plan accordingly, as public restroom access cannot always be guaranteed during the event.

Learn To Protect Our Community

Join us for another dynamic Saturday at 9100 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, as we celebrate safe biking, community connection, urban exploration, vital FDNY public‑safety education—and groove to a special DJ set by Rustam Ospanoff!

  • FDNY Fire Safety Education Program (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM):

    • Stop by the FDNY table set-up to pick up fire safety literature and learn life‑saving fire prevention strategies from experienced instructors.

    • Look out for literature and meet FDNY’s lively fire safety mascots, Hotdog and Siren.

  • FDNY CPR Training (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM):

    • Participate in non‑certification, compression‑only CPR classes taught by FDNY instructors.

  • (Bike NY) Learn To Ride Class (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM):

    • Bike New York will lead a free “Bike Skills 101: Learn to Ride” class for kids aged 5 and up. In this hands‑on session, experienced instructors will teach young riders how to balance, pedal, start, stop, and steer—all in a safe, engaging, and fun environment.   • (Bike NY) Bike Repair Station (11:00 AM - 4:00 PM):

    • Enjoy a full-day Bike Repair station, supported by Recycle A Bicycle, to ensure your ride stays in top shape throughout the event.

  • (Queens BIke Share) Free Bike rides (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM):

    • Enjoy free rides on premium Cargo and Family bikes courtesy of Queens Bike Share.

    • Rides are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to sessions of up to 30 minutes.

    • Experience smart mobility and create memorable family adventures on these versatile, safe bikes.

  • (City Parks Foundation) Bensonhurst clean up (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

    • It’s My Park clean-up of Bensonhurst Park. Join volunteers to collect litter, spread mulch, and give this neighborhood green space a summer refresh before the plaza opens. All tools provided.

    • Because the park sits on both sides of the highway, we’ll split into two teams so each section gets the attention it deserves. Join us and make a visible difference! 🌳🧤

  • Interactive Play & Learning:

    • PLAY Station—a touch‑free obstacle course for kids featuring colorful barriers, chalk-drawn game zones, and custom challenges.

    • BUILD Station: Step into our pop‑up building station equipped with LEGO, Imagination Playground blocks, MagnaTiles, and more. Engage in self‑guided building challenges crafted by architects.

    • IMAGINE Station: Share your ideas and stories about Bensonhurst at our interactive community station. Write your thoughts on handwritten tags and capture your vision with Polaroid photos displayed in our mini street gallery.

    • Street Marker: Join hands with fellow New Yorkers in our creative workspace to design striking street patterns and communal murals using our custom toolkit. Learn new ways to mark and celebrate public spaces while having fun together.

  • Bike-Focused Activities:

    • Enjoy free bike repairs and participate in hands‑on bike safety classes to keep your ride in top shape and learn safe urban cycling practices.

  • Community Engagement & Refreshments:

    • Savor complimentary hot beverages—including LMNT tea, hot tea, hot chocolate, and espresso drinks—at our Cafe Station, alongside bite‑sized snacks sourced locally.

    • Connect at One Big Table—a community table setup designed to spark conversations and shared experiences.

Parent Guidelines for Bike Skills 101: Learn to Ride – Kids

Kids Learn To Ride by Bike NY

A free group class for children aged 5 and up who are ready to transition from training wheels to riding a two-wheeler.

Overview:

  • What It Is:
    A free group class for children aged 5 and up who are ready to transition from training wheels to riding a two-wheeler.

  • What Your Child Will Learn:
    Basic bike skills including balancing, pedaling, starting, stopping, and steering using our safe, easy, and effective method taught by experienced instructors.

  • Outcome:
    Most kids master the basics in one session. Even if your child needs extra practice, you’ll leave with a low-stress technique to help them ride independently.

Class Details:

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Location: A designated, traffic-free environment (a large paved space roughly the size of two tennis courts)

  • Class Size: Maximum of 15 children

  • Instructors: 1-2 trained Bike New York instructors

  • Equipment:

    • Your child must bring their own bicycle and helmet.

    • Please ensure the bicycle fits properly and is in good working order (wheels spin freely and brakes function correctly).

    • The child should be able to sit comfortably with both feet flat on the ground.

    • Training wheels should be removed in advance and tires fully inflated.

Registration Process:

  • Pre-Registration: Recommended to secure a spot (no waitlists, but spaces are limited).

  • Walk-Ins: Welcome if space is available.

  • Account Setup:

    • When registering, please include your child’s name and birthdate in the ‘Personal Info’ section.

    • Alternatively, create your own account, choose “register family,” and input your child’s details during registration.

Bike Repair by Bike NY

Keep your ride in top shape

with a free tune-up services provided by Bike New York.

Services are available on a first come, first serve basis and include:

  • Complete safety check (torquing all nuts and bolts and inspecting wear items)

  • Brake adjustments

  • Shifting system adjustments

  • Drivetrain and cable lubrication

  • Tire inflation to recommended pressure

Note: Replacement or installation of parts is not included in the free service.
